Hello,
What was changed yesterday was the only changes that were made and haven't been reverted back. Glad it's working normally again.

Did you do something? Because it has suddenly started downloading normally again .....
Hello,
At this point I am unsure what the problem could be IF there is even a problem. Due to no other subscribers having this issue, me not able to reproduce this error myself and the server being a complete mirror of the old one, just different location. I am going to have to suspect this is client side issue.
I do apologize for any inconvenience this may be causing, at this time there isn't anything more I can do.

I'm also getting failures on the larger Insurgency maps
I've added 2 files to the root of or redirect http://us1.gamingredirect.com/7768880532/NewRedirect.mpg and http://us1.gamingredirect.com/7768880532/NormalRedirect.mpg to show you the difference between how it was and how it is now. Whilst it is showing 'estimating' on the new redirect the file is actually being downloaded in the background, but the game client can't see that, and then once it has actually downloaded to the clients computer that is when the game can see it, and the green bar shoots rapidly across as the file is copied from the temp location to the real one. On the Normal redirect, which is how your old redirect looked, with the game seeing the download straight away and the green bar moving across the screen as the file is downloaded to the client computer. These two videos were taken right after each other on the same computer without any changes to the setup, I just chose a random server that was running a custom map for the 'Normal' one. The change that you made didn't make a difference, the download still timed out on the map that I tried. It seems to be hit and miss depending on the dl speed that you currently are getting as to whether the download completes in time.
Hello,
That would probably make sense that some files try to "open" instead of "downloading". I've added force download for every file. Give this a try and let me know if it has any impact.

I have just tried to download a file from our website using the url, and it tries to load the file into the browser rather than download the file. I wonder if the way that you have it set up so that it actually downloads the file could be causing the issue?
Thanks for looking in to this for us. I think that we are only having the issue with COD4 and COD5 - the only other game that we use the redirect for is Insurgency, and I haven't had any complaints about that so far. It seems that COD4 and COD5 can still work OK for the large files, as long as the dl speed is high enough that the whole file is received before a timeout is reached and the client gives up waiting. I think that the browser issue is also in fact server based, since the only server that I have noticed it happening on is the redirect, every other file that I try to download behaves 'normally', with the save file box opening immediately and the file continuing to download after the location has been chosen. It is only on the redirect that the save file box takes a long time to come up and the file is already downloaded by the time that it does. I will try to make some video files so that you can see the difference that I am talking about, it's difficult to describe it.
Hello,
A subscriber has gotten back to me and hasn't noticed any issues thus far except for better speeds. Hes also let me know he will keep an eye on it just encase he notices anything. The part where you said you were downloading the file before you get to the save dialog box is browser based which is client side and not server.
This would be why I am unable to reproduce that. Are you only having this issue with Call of Duty 4 and Call of Duty 5 files? If so, as indicated it only happens with large files correct? I am not ruling anything out currently but I am fairly sure there isn't anything wrong with the new server. That said, I will continue to monitor this.
If I can find my Call of Duty CD's I will be glad to connect to your server and test this.

Just checked with another site, and the save file box comes up straight away.
It still seems to be downloading the whole file before either the save file box appears or the game starts registering that it is downloading. Can you tell if the download still continues after you have put in the filename, or is you download speed too fast?
Hello,
We aren't using any kind of compression on our server, in fact gzip is turned off entirely. I have not been able to reproduce this 1 minute wait for downloads when clicked. As soon as I've clicked the download link or manually pasting it in my browser the download box pops up instantly. I've tried it with two different browsers and still aren't able to reproduce this.
I've made a couple changes for testing purposes. Let me know if this at all has an impact on your redirect.

I wonder if you are doing some kind of zipped download that the receiving computer doesn't access until the entire file is received?
I have done some more testing, downloading via a browser, and it seems that the larger the file is the longer the wait time between asking for the download (pressing ENTER) and the file save dialog box coming up on the screen. This file http://us1.gamingredirect.com/7768880532/cod4/usermaps/mp_bridge2011/mp_bridge2011.iwd took about 15 secs and is 8405kb. while http://us1.gamingredirect.com/7768880532/cod4/usermaps/mp_bridge2011/mp_bridge2011.ff which is 41,001kb took over a minute for the file save dialog to appear. For the file that you tested with it was over 4 minutes. It does seem that once the dialog box appears the file is already downloaded. I'm guessing that it is this wait time that is causing the issue, since the game thinks that it is not going to get the file and drops back to a server download. I have noticed a longer pause between the game asking for the download and it seeing that the download had actually started ever since the move to the new server than with the old server, but it seems to have got worse over the days, to the point where the redirect function no longer works, at least for us in cod4 and cod5. It does seem that the once it sees that the download has started it is completed almost instantaneously, which would fit with observation above about a browser download. But for the COD4 & COD5 games at least the fact that the computer is actually getting the file is not enough since the game itself doesn't see that the computer is getting the file. The error log that you posted doesn't contain any of the file that I was having issues with yesterday, which were cod4 ones. I have the same issue from my Comcast connection at home and my AT&T connection at work, so I am fairly sure that it is some issue with the HTTP download setup for the new server. I hope that all makes sense!
Hello,
I had a check on your redirect and found the largest file which was "badelcoopv1.bsp" under "insurgency" and have had no slowness downloading. Additionally I've attached a screenshot showing the speed as well an error log for your specific account showing files that are either missing on your game server or are not correctly identical and as such would make your server revert from the redirect to the actual server, causing the slowness because, most gameserver providers throttle speeds.

We seem to be having a problem downloading larger files via the redirect, small ones seem to be OK. The largest file I was able to download was about 8853kb. The file name are identical on server and redirect.
